5 Safe, Effective & Affordable Homeopathic Remedies

Homeopathy

Did you know that Homeopathy has been called “the original alternative medicine”?

I first learned about Homeopathy during my prenatal yoga teacher training. It is safe for pregnant women’s discomforts, but it also offers gentle and effective remedies to men and women for many ailments we suffer from every day, including cold symptoms, insomnia, joint pain and more.

I have used the remedies for cold symptoms and menstrual cramps and have recommended the remedies for swollen feet, anxiety and muscle pain to my students. All have been very effective.

Homeopathy was discovered over 200 years ago by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a chemist and personal physician to the German royal family. Disillusioned with the medical practices of his time, Hahnemann stumbled across written studies that demonstrated the principles of the law of similars. Through this principle, he found a gentle means of stimulating the body’s innate healing ability and coined the term “Homeopathy” from the Latin words homoion (similar) and pathein (disease, suffering). “Let like be cured with like,” was Hahnemann’s philosophy.

Check out these 5 Homeopathic Remedies for Common Ailments.

Arnica (mountain daisy): This is the #1 remedy in sports medicine and first aid. It is used for shock and trauma from injury. It also helps to reduce pain from injury and to speed the healing process.

Hypericum (St. John’s wort): This remedy is the first medicine to consider for injuries to the nerves or to parts of the body rich with them, including the fingers, toes, and back. Any injury with shooting pains should be given this remedy.

Ignatia (St. Ignatius bean): It is one of the leading homeopathic medicines for acute grief, anxiety, and depression, especially after a death or separation from a loved one.

Magnesia phosphorica (phosphate of magnesia): This is the most effective remedy for cramps, including menstrual cramps.

Pulsatilla (windflower): This remedy relieves swelling that involves the knees, ankles, feet, or hands.

I have always used the Boiron brand in the blue bottles as they are easy to find at Whole Foods and affordable at only $5 to $9 each. You can also find them online or research other trusted brands. You don’t touch the pills as that will wear off the medicine. Instead, you unscrew the bottle until your dosage of pills fall to the bottom part and then detach the bottom part and put it to your mouth. Allow the pills to disintegrate. It is recommended not to eat or drink and hour before or thirty minutes after for the best effect.

Hope this information helps you stay pain-free more naturally.

Namaste,
Brenda
