An UnBelizeable Yoga Retreat

2014 Belize Yoga Retreat

I just returned from my yoga retreat in Belize and am still pinching myself. It was a wonderful experience.

15 friendly and kind yoga students joined me in exploring the beauty of Belize and deepening their yoga practice. One of which, took her first class ever on the retreat!

Every morning, I gave a meditation and pranayama/breathing class and then an invigorating vinyasa yoga class. Every afternoon, we enjoyed a more therapeutic practice, like yoga nidra, thai bodywork, marma therapy, partner yoga and more… And every practice was on the breathtaking beach yoga deck, which you can snorkel off of, too.

On the 2nd day, we took a group snorkel trip to the famous Hol Chan Reserve and Shark Ray Alley. We pet giant turtles underwater and a few of us hugged nurse sharks!!!

We had one rainy afternoon that was followed by a stunning double rainbow!

Like my last retreat, I know that the setting was only half of the joy of our retreat. The connections we made with each other helped us grow in our yoga practice physically and spiritually. My only hope is that these friendships last much longer than our lovely tans 😉

Namaste,
Brenda

  • Just came across your site on EJ where I was reading 5 Ways You Can Make a Living as a Yoga Teacher. Your story is inspiring as a current 9 to 5er currently enrolled in teacher training! I hope one day to be leading retreats to Belize! (weird that I’m also going to Belize in a couple of months too! Will definitely have to visit that Shark Alley!)
