I often get asked how I start practicing yoga. Truth is, I kept seeing the word yoga everywhere. I felt like it was a sign. I had no idea what yoga was. My first yoga class was at the Bikram HOT yoga studio in Montclair, NJ. The class was extremely challenging, but the way I felt afterwards was amazing! I’d never felt so light and calm in my body and my mind. Every breath I took outside after class was delicious!
I know now that the first yoga class was a turning point to becoming more aware of my life and my choices and how they led me to where I was. The true purpose of yoga is to wake you up and get you to ask yourself if you are living the life you want to be living, being the person you want to be. If you are not, then it’s time to change or acknowledge it and know you can’t blame anyone, but yourself for not going for what will make you happy.
Become aware of signs cluing you in on activities that will make you more happy and present (yoga, running, hiking, swimming, singing, dancing, etc.). Get that rush of being present and content and then use that newfound awareness and gusto for life to make changes towards living the life of your dreams.
