World Kindness Day is November 13th. This day is a wonderful reminder to reconnect with our humanity and observe how we interact with others.
In my years of teaching, I have observed that one of the greatest gifts of kindness you can give someone is to really notice and listen to them when they speak to you. That means, look them in the eye, relax and stand straight and open to them as they speak to you. Don’t plan what you are going to say next. Just be there and take them in. Whether someone wants to share happy or sad news about themselves, fully commit to listening to them and then respond as you see fit.
Most people don’t feel heard or even seen. This small act of kindness and presence can help brighten their entire day.
Happy World Kindness Day! May we keep our hearts open and inspire others to do the same.
